Staying Safe at Theme Parks

Heading to a theme park this summer? They can be a lot of fun. Take time to plan your trip and talk to your kids about how to stay safe before you arrive at the park. Make a plan to meet in a specific location should anyone become separated: a good place is the Help or Information Center. In all situations they need to yell and runaway if someone tries to grab them. And please, make sure your kids never wear clothing or carry items that display their names. It attracts people who are out to harm your children.

Once you get to the park, show your kids where to meet you, maybe even showing them on the map. And always, have them carry some form of ID and emergency contact information in a secure spot. Wrapping the ID in plastic baggy might help to avoid getting wet on the fun water rides. Hopefully some of these ideas and a few minutes of advanced preparation can make your outing more enjoyable and safer for your whole family.
