Shannon Dedrick

Last week we told you about 7 month old Shannon Dedrick missing from her home in Florida. Her mother reported her missing indicating to law enforcement that a vehicle was involved and left officers wondering if the baby was transported to another state. So we asked for your help.

Calls were received about this case that led to a woman, 50 year old Susan Baker who was Shannon’s babysitter. What officers found was very disturbing. After 5 days, 7 month old Shannon was found under Baker’s bed in a 2 foot by 3 foot cedar box. Blankets surrounded the child to muffle any noise and baking soda was in the box to cover any diaper smells. Shannon in now doing well and in protective custody. Charges are being filed against Susan Baker and also against Shannon’s mother, who now admits she gave the baby to Susan.  

If see a child in a situation or have reason to think a child is in danger, please call your local police. Officers would rather check the welfare of a child instead of finding them days later. We are just thankful Shannon was still alive.
