National Missing Children's Day

May 25th is National Missing Children's Day. The National Center has a program called Take 25 which stresses 25 safety tips that will initiate a discussion with your children. Here are the top 5 we want to stress:

Teach your child their full names and addresses. Knowing their parents names and cell phone number are a plus.

Place the family computer in a common area. Establish times and safety rules for being online.

Take your child on a walking tour of your neighborhood and create boundaries.

Teach your child to never approach a vehicle whether it is occupied or not. Someone may be hiding.

Practice "what' if situations and ask your child how they would respond. For example "What if you fell off your bike and you needed help? Who would you ask?

These are just a few ideas to discuss with your child. See all 25 tips.
