CyberTipline
The internet has created an exciting new world of information and
communication for anyone with access to online services. While this
technology offers unparalleled opportunities for children and adults
to learn about the world we live in, it has also had an immeasurable
impact on the sexual exploitation of children, specially the distribution
of images of children.
In order to help Law Enforcement, the National Center created the
CyberTipline. This is a congressionally mandated reporting system
that takes the guess work out of which legal authority to contact
when wanting to make a report of suspected incidents of child sexual
exploitation. Since its launch in 1998, the line has received over
400,000 reports which have led to innumerable arrests and prosecutions
worldwide. Now the National Center has made it easier for you to
make these reports online.
Here is the new report form. All you need to do is fill in the blanks
with as much information as you have. Only a simple facts are required
to submit a report. If you need any help, click on this help button
and it will give you detailed instructions. When you’re done,
just click submit. The report is reviewed by the National Center
and forwarded to the proper Law Enforcement agency. This online
report not only makes it easier, but allows families to file reports
about embarrassing situations in the privacy of their own home.
